1600m – Turf

Masaarr |
Plenty of smart form in Europe at around this trip for brilliant Newmarket trainer Roger Varian. However neither of his runs for a different stable in the UAE last year suggest that he has yet recovered peak form. |
2 |
Major Partnership |
Not very consistent but can quicken impressively when in the mood as he showed winning a 1400m Listed event here in January. He had to cope with a wide trip on his latest start. |
3 |
Motafaawit |
Has some good winning handicap form on both fast and slow ground in the UK. Could never launch a serious challenge from the rear on last month’s Meydan debut but can do a lot better. |
4 |
Noivado |
His winning form came in Ireland much earlier in his career. Beaten a long way on his last two starts so he doesn’t make much appeal. |
5 |
Seniority |
A decent handicapper in the UK, winning some nice prizes at around this distance. His handicap mark slipped as he struggled a bit last year – including here – and he also struggled at Jebel Ali on his UAE return. |
6 |
Firmament |
A hardy veteran from the UK, with a better place than win record. Has run really well in both Meydan efforts this year, latterly being a bit too far back to launch a serious challenge but still running on well. |
7 |
Good Fortune |
Won one of his two starts here last year and has put in very encouraging performances on both his 2020 Meydan starts. He just found two rivals slightly too strong at the finish in a hot 16-runner handicap here last month. |
8 |
Freescape |
Bred to be a sprinter but he was quite an impressive winner over this trip at Dundalk in December and has twice run respectably in hot handicaps over this trip at Meydan in January. |
9 |
Moqtarreb |
Ran well from a difficult handicap mark on his Meydan debut over this distance in January. However he didn’t build on that in another course and distance handicap late last month. |
10 |
Mailshot |
Has plenty of winning form at this distance including a smooth defeat of a big field at Abu Dhabi last October. Two starts ago he finished well to finish a close 5th over this course and distance. |
11 |
Shanty Star |
Finds winning difficult. He has run one or two decent races here including coming quite close to landing a huge shock in a Listed event about a year ago. Perhaps he will be in the same mood this time. |
12 |
Fuego Del Amor |
Quite a consistent gelding but arguably better over shorter distances than this. Wasn’t beaten far in a 1400m handicap here earlier this month, though never threatened to win. |
13 |
Cliffs Of Capri |
Beaten in his last 13 starts though that disguises some good efforts. Hasn’t made much impact in either starts at Meydan this year. |
