Happy Wednesday Oktoberfest returns at four Valley nights

The ever-popular Oktoberfest returns to Happy Wednesday for four Happy Valley race nights, starting on Wednesday, 25 September. The other three nights are 9, 16 and 23 October.

Happy Valley Racecourse, in keeping with the much-loved Oktoberfest traditions, offers live German bands, authentic trackside Bavarian-inspired food, games, and thirst-quenching German beer.

Opening Party at the Beer Garden
The Oktoberfest party will begin this Wednesday (25 September), with the official pouring of the first stein of beer by Mr. David Schmidt, Deputy Consul-General of Germany, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s CEO Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges. Two German music troupes will perform on stage at Beer Garden – The Notenhobler for three nights starting this Wednesday, and Talbachbuam on the final night (23 October).

Fans can also join in a host of beer-related games. The Stein Hoisting Challenge (aka the game of holding beer-filled mugs for as long as possible), Beer Pong and Roll Out the Barrel are in the line-up to test fans’ skills. For the Stein Hoisting Challenge, a cash prize totalling HK$16,000 will be up for grabs for the four nights.  Fans who put #HappyWednesdayHK on their photos taken during the Oktoberfest nights are in for a chance to win A Table for Four at adrenaline. Oktoberfest ambassadors will be roving in the Beer Garden to take photos with fans.

Authentic German beer and culinary delights
A sumptuous array of beverage and culinary delights will be on offer for fans’ enjoyment at the Happy Valley Oktoberfest.  A collection of Oktoberfest fare will be available at the Beer Garden take-away counters – Roasted Pork Knuckle with Sauerkraut & Mashed Potatoes (HK$125); Nürnberger and Cheese Krainer Sausages with Sauerkraut & Mashed Potatoes (HK$80) ; Duck Patty on Braised Red Cabbage, Cherry Jam (HK$60); Pretzels with Cheese Dip (HK$43); Boiled Beef Cheek, Sauerkraut & Bouillon Potatoes (HK$75); Baked Salmon Fillet with Horseradish Sauce (HK$105) and Spinach and Cheese Strudel (HK$65).
