G1 – 1600m – Turf
| Lady In Black | Classy filly who has been in top form in the Cape this season. Has a win over last year’s Sun Met champion Oh Susanna to her credit but then finished a half-length second to the same filly in the G1 Paddock Stakes. Would probably prefer a little further but is effective over this trip and deserves to be the race favourite. |
| Snowdance | Winner of this race last year but she does struggle a little over 1600m against top company. She will be right there in the finish but could find one or two too good for her this time. |
| Fresnaye | While quite a talented filly, she is just below G1 class and will only feature should the top runners fail. Could place. |
| Brave Move | Won six in a row last year and seemed likely to pick up a feature but suddenly has started to have breathing problems. She is capable but is not at her best right now. |
| Rose In Bloom | A decent filly in lesser company and better over a shorter distance. Not in this class. |
| Fiorella | She beat Snowdance to win the Fillies Guineas in Durban and then ran second to Oh Susanna in the G1 Woolavington 2000 with Lady In Black third. If she can find that form Duncan Howells’ runner will have a decent winning chance but it is some time since she has run at that level. |
| Miyabi Gold | She is another who just below Group 1 ability but she is honest and could definitely run into the places. |
| Love To Boogie | Ran well in a Pinnacle Stakes against Lady In Black and Oh Susanna but is more a place prospect than a possible winner. |
| Freedom Charter | Well held on form and not certain to stay 1600m. |
| Goodtime Gal | Held by Snowdance, Lady In Black and Love To Boogie so is unlikely to feature in this event. |
| Sylvan On Fire | Another who is held on form and is unlikely to shape in this company. |
| Front And Centre | Top three-year-old who is unbeaten in four starts and last time cruised to victory in the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas. Is held in high esteem by both trainer Brett Crawford and jockey Anton Marcus and could be the one they all have to beat. |
| Clouds Unfold | Brilliant filly over shorter but faded in the Fillies Guineas to finish third and looks unlikely to turn the table on Front And Centre but if things go her way she is capable of a surprise. |
