G1 – 1000m – Turf
| Bold Respect | He is the highest rated runners in the field and deserves respect. The one concern is that he is a better horse over slightly further and might find himself run off his feet by the speedsters. |
| Sergeant Hardy | He is very fast and won this race last year after a false start saw some of the fancied runners withdrawn. He has a record of three wins from four runs over the course and distance but has not been at his best recently. |
| Rebel’s Champ | Very fast four-year-old gelding who loves this distance but has to travel from Johannesburg and will be having his first run at the course. If he adapts to the coastal conditions he has to be a contender. |
| Attenborough | Won the G1 Computaform Sprint over this distance in Johannesburg and is capable on his day. He has not run well in his last two runs since making a comeback after a four-month layoff. |
| Kasimir | An improving four-year-old who must be a lively contender. He has not run further back than second since he was gelded in June. He does look held by Pacific Trader but should contest the finish. |
| Trip To Heaven | A top-class runner on his day but age could be catching up with him now he is seven years old. Does tend to lose ground at the start which has cost him in the past but if in a galloping mood Sean Tarry’s charge has a winning chance. |
| Pacific Trader | He is undoubtedly the horse they all have to beat. Brett Crawford’s charge has a record of four wins and a close-up second from five runs over the course and distance, is in good shape and holds many of these runners on form. |
| Speedpoint | He does have a win over Pacific Trader to his credit but that was over 1100m and he could be found wanting over the minimum trip. Is drawn No 1 which might not be in his favour as they seem to be winning on the outside at the moment. |
| Dutch Philip | Top juvenile but may have been overrated by the handicappers and he has paid the price. He has improved with gelding and last time ran a good third behind Speedpoint when fitted with blinkers. |
| Search Party | Is rarely far behind many of these horses but he does look held on form and would do well to run a place. |
| Sand And Sea | He’s a difficult horse to assess as he was top-class as a juvenile but seems to have had some soundness issues. Is undoubtedly better over 1200m but does have a top jockey in Anton Marcus and could place. |
| Quinlan | Port Elizabeth-based runner who looks slightly outclassed in this field although he did win his last start against weaker company at Fairview. |
| Rocky Valley | Speedy gelding who has won four of nine starts over 1000m. He almost upset Trip To Heaven at Turffontein in July 2018 but his first run in Cape Town was disappointing and he will need to improve to feature. |
| Sir Frenchie | Although a five-time winner Justin Snaith’s charge looks well held by most of this field and has to be viewed as a massive outsider. |
| Princess Rebel | Interesting filly from Port Elizabeth who is very fast and has already won at Kenilworth, beating a strong field of fillies and mares in the G2 Southern Cross Stakes (1000m). Carries 3lb less than last start and has an outstanding jockey in Piere Strydom. A big runner if she can beat the boys. |
| Pleasedtomeetyou | This three-year-old gelding has only raced five times for three wins and one place and could be anything. Must have ability and is capable of an upset if good enough. |

| Tevez | Already nine years old and looks to be past his best. Not one to follow if he does get into the race. |
| Vision To Kill | Looks totally outclassed but is unlikely to make the final field in any case. |
