G2 – 1600m – Turf
1 |
Buckaroo |
Three good runs out of three races this year, including a course and distance victory in Listed company here. A big horse who would ideally like good or softer ground. |
2 |
Howyoulikethat |
His five career wins have come in handicap company though they do include a course and distance win here. Running well this season but liable to be outclassed. |
3 |
Power Under Me |
Looked well suited to this course and distance when landing a G3 in May, then a close fourth in a G2, also here – two career best runs albeit both on notably slower ground than is expected here. |
4 |
Goldana |
Won a heavy-ground G3 over 1400m at The Curragh in April, and solid enough efforts since. This trip looks fine. Best suited to a slow surface. |
5 |
Villanova Queen |
Probable excuses for a poor show last time, but had previously accelerated from the back to beat 18 rivals under a big weight in a hot Royal Ascot handicap. At her best she has chances here. |
6 |
Alfred Munnings |
Second in G3s here on his last two starts. Whilst he hasn’t lived up to some early expectations after a highly impressive career debut win, he is quite capable of a good showing here. |
7 |
Bold Discovery |
A big horse who is probably best on a fast surface as he showed when winning a Listed event over this trip at The Curragh in July. Not so good on slow ground at Goodwood last time. |
8 |
Flight Plan |
Only career win so far on an all-weather surface but good placed efforts in Listed and G3 company on his last two starts. Faded late on at York latterly suggesting that this slightly shorter trip may help. |
9 |
Lord Massusus |
Probably best when switched off for a late challenge as he was when winning a G3 over this course and distance last month. That performance would make him one of the main players here. |
10 |
Salt Lake City |
Has been entered for races over further, but looks effective at this distance as he showed when narrowly winning a Listed event at Killarney last month. Two previous runs here were both good. |
11 |
Victoria Road |
Has been competing in top company, winning a firm ground G1 over this trip at Keeneland last November, and could make plenty of improvement from his only start this year, in a G2 at Deauville last month. Chances. |
12 |
Tarawa |
Some good races in defeat this season including when second in a G3 over this course and distance. Although she didn’t have a perfect trip she still was disappointing at Cork last time. |
