Big Ritto-based colt taking on Tokyo for first time. Consistent good results but tends to shrink back when overtaken. Can lead, so drop in distance would be a plus. Looking good in trackwork. Worth a wager.

Dondengaeshi

Returning after eighth in a G2 in mid-March that saw colt bogged down on yielding track over turf 1800m. Has only one previous start on dirt, a sixth in a Tokyo listed event over the mile. Has chance.

Friend King

Was consistently in money at NAR’s Kasamatsu racetrack but results poor at JRA level, where all but one start has been on turf. Switch back to dirt a likely plus but overall speed lacking. Not promising.

Hills Coln

Has 3-1-9 in last three starts, all over Tokyo 1600m, with a win on sloppy track and missed break last out. Best results at Tokyo, but generally lacking in speed and likely not competitive here.

Jasri

Posted 1-3-2-1 over Tokyo 1600m in 5 career starts. Conditions were right last out in late April but lacked competitive spirit, tended to keep distance from others. Only 2 weeks between races, but looking good in trackwork. May pale amid more competitive field.

Night Aquarium

Shadow roll, blinkers and shorter distance aided concentration and helped to land first win (over 1400m at Kyoto) on April 29. This Ritto-based colt is not likely to find similar trip over Tokyo 1600m, a much higher bar. Footwork good in morning work.

Rough Asian

Highly consistent colt racing for first time in three-and-a-half months after scoring second win over Tokyo 1600m. Good speed. Tends to lead or run close to pace. Tested only on standard and good surface.

Wayward Act

American-bred colt burst onto scene to win by 8 lengths in debut over Tokyo 1600m. Only 2 full weeks between races. Very talented but physically immature.

Yuttitham

Hefty colt is 2-1-1 from 3 career starts, all over 1700m-1800m, only to right. Returning after four-and-a-half months off. Runs close to pace and was able to avoid kickback last out for smooth trip. Clocking good times with ease in morning work. Has done well after time off before. Drop in distance at Tokyo likely a plus, but first run over left-handed track.
