Following an incident in Race 8 at Happy Valley Racecourse tonight (Wednesday, 22 February), it was decided due to safety reasons to declare the race void.

Near the 1200m starting chute after the field passed the winning post for the first time, Sight Spirit came down and dislodged Jockey Karis Teetan, with both requiring immediate assessment from the Club’s veterinary and medical team, respectively, prompting the decision by Racing Stewards to abandon the race.

Jockey Teetan remained conscious and was sent to the racecourse medical room for examination. Teetan was subsequently cleared by the Club’s Chief Medical Officer to fulfill his remaining riding engagement in Race 9.
