Well below his best on his last two starts. But he won a 1200m G1 at Meydan in March, and more significantly he finished powerfully to win this G1 last year. A repeat Abbaye win has been his target.

Agiato

Beat three rivals in an 1100m sprint at Milan this month. Has also twice won G3’s in Rome since being gelded last year. Usually Italian-trained sprinters are vulnerable at a European G1 level.

Berneuil

One of the favourites to win this G1 dash last year, but ran a shocker after missing the break. But he is one of France’s best sprinters with generally a strong Longchamp record, including a G3 win this month.

Castle Star

Came from the back to win a slow ground 1200m G3 at The Curragh in May 2021. But will need to improve plenty on his two 2022 starts to win this. Stable are currently struggling for winners.

Caturra

His three wins all came as a two-year-old including a G2 win at Doncaster. Has gone close on a few occasions in 2022 but will need to upgrade on a modest show in a slow-ground G1 last time.

Coeur De Pierre

Both his 2022 runs have been encouraging, easily winning a sprint at Deauville in August and then a close second in a G3 over this course and distance, a sprint considered as a trial for this. Best on slow ground.

Flotus

A very talented speedster though a bit of a worry that her three wins have all come at around 1200m. However she showed plenty of pace when third in a 1000m G1 at The Curragh last time.

Miramar

Came from the back to win an 1100m G3 at Chantilly in April, but has generally struggled in some top sprints. Not an impossible winner, but an unlikely one.

Mitbaahy

This improving speedster’s four wins have all come at around this trip, and he looked to deserve a crack at this famous G1 after finishing fast and late to win a G3 at Newbury this month.

Mo Celita

Early wins last year came in very lowly company but she improved rapidly and was only just run out of third place in this G1. Some good recent efforts also, and she should again run well here.

Mooneista

An energetic and enthusiastic Irish-trained speedster who has run some terrific races so far this season without managing a win, including a  very narrow defeat at The Curragh. This has been a target.

Moss Tucker

His four wins have come in notably lesser company than this, but he was finishing fast when third in a Listed race last time. Consistent, and would be helped if the ground turned soft.

New York City

Big and strong he had some smart form earlier in the year before some disappointments in hot company. Did better in a soft-ground G1 at The Curragh last time, showing a lot of early speed.

Ponntos

Contrasting efforts over this course and distance this year, leading from the gates to land a surprise G3 victory here in May, but disappointing when well fancied for another G3 this month.

Raasel

A terrific sprinter who has won nine of his 18 starts, and proving this year that he can hold his own above handicap company, winning a G3 at Sandown. A closer who is best on good ground.

Tees Spirit

Most of his wins have been handicaps, but this gelding, who loves to lead early, was fast enough to win a competitive Listed event at Tipperary last time. Needs good or quicker ground.

Teresa Mendoza

This Irish-trained filly has been supplemented, following narrow defeats in G3’s at Naas and Newbury on her last two starts and proving her effectiveness for this pure sprint trip last time.

The Platinum Queen

This two-year-old speedball has some fantastic gate speed, only narrowly run down in a G1 and a G2 on her last two starts. Chances here though very soft ground could blunt her speed.

White Lavender

Lightly campaigned since moving from Ireland to the UK, but has run good races in France on her last two starts, latterly when 3l fourth – just fading late – in a trial for this here this month.
