The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s fourth experience Shop – Kwun Tong Plaza Shop has reopened on 16 August. Different segments of customers can dive into an unparalleled “glamping” experience over a cup of specialty coffee in the new 5,000 square feet cafe filled with greenery, or get some action on the horse racing and football training simulators. There is also a leisure activity zone where customers can join live KOL talks and other activities.
Designed as an escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy industrial heartland-turned business centre in Kwun Tong district, this spacious flagship shop in East Kowloon has been revitalised with an abundance of elements of nature and greenery to create a relaxing state of mind for the 200 seatings in an area of over 20,000 square feet on three storeys.
“Turfland” cafe oozes relaxing vibes with glamping experience (1/F of the Shop)
Inspired by the theme of glamping, Turfland cafe combines the “glam” of life’s finesse brewed in cups of specialty coffee with a peaceful “camp” site-like environment re-created with decorative greenery. The iconic ornamental tree placed in the centre of the cafe and upcycled timber decorations sourced from HK Timberbank bring to the space nature’s beauty and provide a retreat from the hectic city life. Turfland cafe’s menu presents a wide list of specialty coffee brews including latte art and hand drip brews from Sensory Zero, and even some specialty beans that are exclusive to this shop. Here, customers can spend a relaxing time and find peace in a cup of single origin filter coffee and learn to become a coffee connoisseur with the on-site baristas, while watching the buzzling traffic on the streets and bathing in the warm sunlight. The Western-Japanese fusion refreshments and light meals offered here are a feast to both the eyes and stomachs of the diners.
Turfland cafe is open for reservation for days of race meeting. Racing fans can enjoy the unique dining experience with live racing with their friends. For reservations, please visit: https://www.bookingrc.hkjc.com/onlinebooking/.
“Train to Win” zone fitted with jockey and football training simulators brings excitement (M/F of the Shop)
The Shing Yip Street entrance opens to a world of excitement in the “Train to Win” zone fitted with four jockey and football training simulators, namely the “Horse Riding Experience”, “Jockey Champion Race”, “Football Shooter Contest” and “Penalty Shoot-out Drill”, to provide firsthand horse racing and football competing experience. Riders on the “Horse Riding Experience” and “Jockey Champion Race” can feel how the “horse” reacts to a pull on the reins, or simply get a boost of energy from rushing to victory on the “horse”. With the World Cup tournament approaching, football fans can imagine themselves playing the final game by competing with their friends at the football simulators. Electronic gaming facilities are also available for entertainment. The facilities are now available for reservation for non-race days on the Club’s website or at our Off-Course Betting Branches. Day and monthly passes with catering vouchers are also available. Customers may also reserve this venue for a private party to enjoy the facilities and watch the live races and football matches with their friends. Leisure and activity zone (G/F of the Shop)
The leisure and activity zone located on the ground floor adds another dimension of leisure and relaxation. KOLs and racing specialists will be sharing their knowledge and interact with fans during live shows on diverse leisure and racing topics. They may invite fans to go on the stage during these shows and have a taste of being a KOL. The interactive exchange goes beyond the activity zone – the floor-to-ceiling glass windows in the broadcast room create a space for visual encounters between the audience in the broadcast room and the passers-by on the buzzing street. The leisure and activity zone also provides space for DIY workshops during which customers can devote their minds in the creation of their own unique handicrafts. There is also a merchandise corner offering “blind boxes” of knickknacks and designer toys for customers to try their luck and see if they can unbox some much-sought-after rare collectibles.
Dedicated space for racing and football fans (G/F and M/F of the Shop)
Entering from Hoi Yuen Road is a dedicated betting and media hall welcoming racing and football fans. Customers may also choose to view live broadcast of races and football matches on large high-definition television screens in the comfortable seating hall in the nostalgic interior design of a 70s cafe. The panorama TV wall in the betting and media hall provides another way of enjoying the live excitement and experience of race and match watching as if viewing from the grandstand. Services are complete with betting counters and self-service terminals, as well as helpful staff who are ready to walk through with customers the races and how to use the betting app.
