G1 – 1200m – Turf
1 |
A Case Of You |
High class Irish-trained speedster who led in the last stride to win a Longchamp G1 last October. Couldn’t live with Man Of Promise at Meydan this month, but still ran a very good second. |
2 |
Berneuil |
One of France’s top sprinters even if he disappointed in their showpiece sprint on heavy ground at Longchamp. Expected good ground here will help on this Meydan debut. |
3 |
Casa Creed |
A G1 winner over this trip in the US and accelerated from midfield when only just failing to land a red-hot G3 event at King Abdulaziz last month. Stays further than this so a ferocious pace would help. |
4 |
Creative Force |
Last seen when delivering a career-best, outspeeding 19 rivals in a 1200m G1 at Ascot last October. A big player here especially on good rather than fast ground and with a strong gallop. |
5 |
Emaraaty Ana |
Very fast indeed as he showed again when a narrow G1 winner of one of the UK’s top sprints at Haydock. Two international runs since – latterly here – have not seen him at his best. |
6 |
Entscheiden |
Hasn’t won for a while and seems more accomplished over longer trips as he showed with a good third – at long odds – in a 1400m heavy ground G1 at Longchamp last October. |
7 |
Get Smokin |
Blessed with gate speed but he will need it here as he invariably competes over further in the US, his last victory coming over 1600m. Ace rider Flavien Prat partners him for the first time. |
8 |
Khuzaam |
His five wins have all come on artificial surfaces, latterly when dropping to 1000m at Jebel Ali. He doesn’t have the profile of the usual winner of this G1 turf sprint. |
9 |
Lauda Sion |
Another in this field who may be better over further. Still, on his first run outside Japan, he did finish very fast when fourth of 14 in a red-hot 1351m G3 at King Abdulaziz last month. |
10 |
Man Of Promise |
Destined for favouritism after producing a stunning performance to pulverise his 15 rivals in a G3 here this month. Only issue is a profile that suggests he’s best after an absence. |
11 |
Mutafawwig |
Three good efforts out of three runs at Meydan this year, latterly when second over 1400m. Fast enough for 1200m but one or two rivals hold more persuasive claims. |
12 |
Naval Crown |
Another strong Godolphin candidate in this, even if a disappointing favourite at King Abdulaziz last time – leading but fading fast. Had previously won a G2 here whilst the drop to a sprint trip looks favourable. |
13 |
Taxiwala |
Has won his last two starts at Doha, both at this trip. He is clearly fast but the level of those races is probably well below the level that some of these rivals compete at. |
14 |
Air De Valse |
Plenty of good sprinting victories in France earlier in his career including a front-running G3 Longchamp success. But plenty of defeats since that victory in 2020. |
15 |
Happy Romance |
Has impressive gears and is twice a G3 winner over this trip in the UK, thriving on fast ground. Ran a cracking race at King Abdulaziz last month, only failing to win that big prize by 1/2l. |
16 |
Suesa |
Has won five of her eight starts, often looking extremely impressive especially in a G2 at Goodwood. A beaten favourite in G1’s on her last two starts in 2021 but she remains highly respected. |
