Five lots by proven sires from around the world will form the second part of the 2021 Hong Kong International Sale (HKIS) when they are auctioned off on Sunday, 14 November.
Following their withdrawals from the initial Sale in June, the five lots have since been passed fit and are exercising with good progress at Conghua, and accordingly, they will be made available for purchase at the upcoming Sale.
The HKIS (Part II) will take place in the JC Box at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday (14 November). Registration will open on Friday, 5 November, while the horses will be available for inspection on 11, 12 and 13 November.
All relevant information of the five lots, including pedigree and footage of breeze-ups will be available on the Club’s HKIS theme site from Wednesday, 3 November. There will also be a livecast of the Sale online for viewing purposes from afar.
The quintet of horses represents a well-renowned group of proven stallions from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, headlined by Lot 3, a bay colt by Exceed And Excel, whose Hong Kong stock includes Mr Stunning, Amber Sky, Excellent Proposal, Computer Patch and Rewarding Hero.
This colt was selected out of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale 2020 for A$760,000 (approx. HK$3,634,000), while his dam, Serious Satire, was a G3 winner over 1200m.
Lot 4 is a striking gelding by I Am Invincible, purchased for A$700,000 (approx. HK$3,347,000). I Am Invincible led Australia’s sire standings in 2018/19 and 2019/20, while in Hong Kong he has the G2-winning Wishful Thinker among his progeny as well as Happy Valley’s 1200m course record holder, Harmony And Rich.
Kodiac was the leading sire for two-year-olds in 2018 and the Club went to €375,000 (approx. HK$3,216,000) to secure Lot 5. The bay gelding’s dam is Vee Gita who, while unraced, has produced five individual winners from six foals to date.
Lot 1 is a son of Mastercraftsman with ties to Indigenous, Hong Kong’s legendary stayer, while his second dam, Castara Beach produced Pure Champion, a top-level placegetter in Hong Kong. The Irish bred youngster was purchased for €140,000 (approx. HK$1,201,000).
Dabirsim has had a limited involvement in Hong Kong but among his progeny in the city is a pair of solid performers, Uncle Steve and Transcendent; the Club ventured to Germany’s premier yearling sale at Baden-Baden to secure the gelding, Lot 2, for €40,000 (approx. HK$349,000).
Owner registration for the Sale will commence on Friday, 5 November.
