The Stewards today interviewed Trainer C S Shum regarding his application to add a crossed nose band to the gear to be worn by CHARITY GRACE in the stated race. CHARITY GRACE was successful over the same course and distance on 21 March 2021 when wearing blinkers and a ring bit.
Mr Shum explained that he had applied a crossed nose band to CHARITY GRACE in its trackwork at the commencement of the current racing season on the recommendation of the horse’s trackwork rider and following the addition of that piece of equipment, he is of the opinion that the horse has settled much better in its trackwork. He said as CHARITY GRACE had pleased him in the manner in which it worked in a crossed nose band, he applied that piece of equipment to CHARITY GRACE on 10 September 2021 in a barrier trial and he was pleased by the manner in which the horse trialed as was K Teetan who rode the horse in that trial.
The Stewards also interviewed Jockey Teetan who confirmed that CHARITY GRACE had performed satisfactorily in the aforementioned barrier trial.
Having considered the merits of Mr Shum’s application, the Stewards have approved the gear change and as such CHARITY GRACE will carry blinkers, a crossed nose band and a ring bit in the stated race.
