G1 – 2200m – Turf

1 Queen’s Milagro Very consistent runner in 2017 with one second and four thirds from six starts this season. Will stretch out to 2200m for the first time in 27 career starts here. She came off a 12th-placed finish in the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) on 14 October latest. Races from better than midfield but sometimes races beyond. Handles firm and softer surfaces.
2 Happy Yunibansu 5 wins over 1800m and 2000m. She won TVh Sho (1800m) in July and is coming off a 7th in the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) in October latest. No track worries. Hold-up runner.
3 Tosen Victory The winner of the G3 Nakayama Himba Stakes (1800m) in March showed a smart effort with a 2nd in the G3 Queen Stakes (1800m) in July. Latest 5th in the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) in October. Races midfield or better than midfield. Fast track suits her.
4 Crocosmia High-class mare won the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) and defeated three G1 winners in October last time. She also won an upper-class stakes race (2000m) at Sapporo in August. Leads or races close to speed. Handles all going.
5 Mozu Katchan After three consecutive wins, the three-year-old filly finished second in the G1 Japanese Oaks (2400m) in May. Latest 3rd in the G1 Shuka Sho (2000m) in October. Versatile type of filly and handles all going.
6 Lys Gracieux The high-class three-year-old filly has never missed the board with two runner-up finishes in the G1 Japanese 1000 Guineas (1600m) in April and G1 Shuka Sho (2000m) latest in October. However, she is yet to win a G1 race. Hold-up runner. No track concerns.
7 Queens Ring The defending champion mare has not won in three starts this term. Finished 6th in the G1 Victoria Mile in May. In the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) last time out, she started slow and raced back but showed a strong stretch run to finish 4th. No track issues. Races close to the speed or midfield. Favours Kyoto racecourse.
8 Touching Speech Has never finished on the board since finishing 2nd in the G2 Kyoto Kinen (2200m) last February. She was 9th in the G2 Kinko Sho (2000m) in March, 13th in the G2 Hanshin Himba Stakes (1600m) in April and 7th at 2600m in September latest. Hold-up runner. No track concerns.
9 Denko Ange Good effort for 2nd in the G1 Victoria Mile this term. She finished 8th in both the G3 Epsom Cup (1800m) in June and G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) in October. Races back and handles all going.
10 Mikki Queen 5th in the G1 Arima Kinen (2500m) last December and 3rd in the G1 Takarazuka Kinen (2200m) in June. This is her first race since the spring Grand Prix contest but she has never missed the board on right-handed tracks. No track issue. Hold-up runner.
11 Deirdre Winning the G1 Shuka Sho (2000m) in October, over a yielding track, she has been unbeaten with high-class performances in three starts since the summer. No track worries. Late closer.
12 Smart Layer The top-class 7yo mare grabbed her fourth graded stakes win in the G2 Kyoto Daishoten (2400m) last month. In her previous eight G1 starts, she missed the board only three times and showed a very consistent finish in four starts this season. Versatile mare with a strong late kick. Handles firm and softer tracks.
13 Jour Polaire Never missed the board in 11 starts. Smart efforts with 2 wins and 2 thirds in four outings this year, including a 3rd in the G1 Victoria Mile. She is a half-sister to Sadamu Patek, 6th in the 2012 Hong Kong Mile. Settles close to the speed and no track concerns. Never tested at the 2200m trip.
14 Ukiyono Kaze Stretched out in distance since the G1 Victoria Mile last year, but has never attempted the 2200m. Scored her second graded stakes title in April’s G3 Fukushima Himba Stakes (1800m) but placed 14th in the G3 Keisei Hai Autumn Handicap (1600m) latest in September. Favours only a firm track. Hold-up runner.
15 Maximum de Paris All her six wins are between 1800m and 2200m. She scored two graded stakes successes this term in the G3 Aichi Hai (2000m) in January and the G3 Mermaid Stakes (2000m) in June. Ran 9th at 2400m in the G2 Kyoto Daishoten latest. No track worries and races close to the speed.
16 Vivlos Winner of this year’s G1 Dubai Turf (1800m) in March. Smart effort for 2nd in October’s G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes (1800m) at her autumn reappearance. Never tested over 2200m but has 2 wins, including the G1 Shuka Sho, over 2000m. Settles midfield. Tested only on firm and good going.
17 Rouge Buck Claimed her fourth graded stakes title in the G2 All Comers (2200m) in September last time. The 2016 G2 Mainichi Okan (1800m) winner has not scored at G1 level yet. Can race close to the speed and settle back. Tested only on firm and good going. Ryan Moore has been booked to ride.
18 Eterna Minoru Winner of 5 of 16 outings between 1400m and 1800m. 2nd in Tarumi Stakes (1800m) in June and finished on the board in the G3 Queen Stakes (1800m). She handled the yielding surface when winning the Yasaka Stakes (1800m) in October last time. No track issues. Races close to the speed.
