G1 – 1000m – Turf
Air De Valse | Has won three of her six 2020 starts and confirmed herself a powerful Abbaye candidate when leading from the gate to win a G3 trial for this here last month. |
Archer’s Dream | Does seem to thrive on slow ground but the five races she has won have been at a much lesser level than this. Soundly beaten when an outsider for a Haydock G1 last month. |
Battaash | Unbeaten in three starts this season Europe’s best sprinter has mowed his rivals down each time – twice in G1’s – with his electric late speed. Only concern is defeat in this G1 as favourite in the past two seasons. |
Batwan | Returned from a year off to deliver a career-best effort, responding to strong pressure to win a well-contested G3 here in May. Needs to recapture that flair here. |
Glass Slippers | Despite missing the break, impressive acceleration saw her win this last year. Seems right at the top of her game for this repeat bid after a G1 defeat of 13 rivals at The Curragh recently. |
Keep Busy | A Chantilly heavy-ground sprint winner on her only previous French visit. Still improving judging by a clear career-best effort last time when only narrowly beaten in a G1 at The Curragh. |
Lady in France | Couldn’t quite cope with two fast local rivals in a G3 here last month having previously outspeeded some classy handicappers under top weight at York. Likes slow ground. Supplemented. |
Liberty Beach | Has finished behind likely favourite Battaash on two occasions this season but is very fast on his day, though very soft ground may be a hindrance. |
Livachope | A two-year-old hasn’t won this famous sprint since 1978. This filly won her first three starts including a G3 here in July. Two solid efforts since, but a win here would surprise. |
Make A Challenge | Thrives on slow ground, twice winning Listed sprints at The Curragh on soft ground in August. Not beaten far in a G1 at the Curragh last time despite a poor gate and quickish ground. |
Sestilio Jet | Did win a G3 on heavy ground over this course and distance, but he has largely struggled since including in this race last year. |
Tertius | Has not proved fast enough when taking on group-class rivals in the past. A win here would come as a huge surprise. |
Wooded | Has mostly competed over further but showed plenty of pace when runner-up in a G3 over this course and distance last month. Good ground then, but he handles soft. |
