| 2 | Preditor | Consistent galloper who was not suited by the slow early speed of the QE II Cup last start won by his stablemate I’m Incredible. Has won up to 1800m and can be in the money. |
| 3 | Elite Invincible | Defending Gold Cup champion who has not won a race since winning this last year. Has been struggling to find his best form and needs a major improvement to feature in the finish. |
| 4 | I’m Incredible | Rising star who has won his last five races in succession, including two SIN G3 races and the SIN G1 QE II Cup over 1800m. Drops to 120 lb for this race and stands out as the horse to beat. |
| 5 | King Louis | Has won over 2000m before and was beaten a nose by I’m Incredible in the QE II Cup over 1800m, when he stormed home late with the blinkers on. The extra 200m looks ideal. The main danger. |
| 6 | Makanani | Winner of this year’s SIN G1 Raffles Cup (1600m) who had every chance when 5th in the QE II Cup over 1800m. She meets I’m Incredible 2lb worse off at the weights, making the job much tougher under handicap conditions. |
| 7 | Sun Marshal | Winner of the SIN G1 Singapore Derby over 1800m this year on a rain affected track and recently had every chance when 3rd in the QE II Cup over 1800m on a good surface. Chances will improve if it rains. |
| 8 | Mr Clint | Failed in the QE II Cup over 1800m as the 4/1 favourite, when returning lame in the off-fore leg. Prior to that was racing in career best form with 2nd place finishes in the Raffles Cup and Singapore Derby. |
| 9 | Bahana | Winner of this race in 2016. Hasn’t won a race since that victory. Clearly out of form and it’s hard to recommend him despite him being proven over the distance. |
| 10 | Blue Swede | Nine-year-old galloper whose best form is behind him. Has not won a race for 854 days and this appears too tough. |
| 11 | Star Emperor | Has not won further than 1400m and disappointed last start in a slowly run race. Hard to recommend. |
| 12 | Sacred Croix | Highly promising galloper who has won over 1600m and ran well in the SIN G1 Singapore Derby (1800m) when placed 5th. Disappointed last start and enters this race with an awkward preparation that does not look ideal. |
| 13 | Gold Strike | Had no excuses last start when 9th in the QE II Cup over 1800m. Drops 17lb in the weights and can run a cheeky race at value. |
| 14 | Real Success | Easy winner last start over 1800m in much easier grade. Will get the distance easily based on that but it’s doubtful he has the class to win a race such as this. |
| 15 | Super Dynasty | Snuck into the Gold Cup field with an all the way victory last Friday over 1600m in Class 3. Rises massively in class and faces a much tougher task this week. |
| 16 | Yabadabadoo | Stormed home to win last start over 1400m and now rises to the 2000m distance for the first time. Looks outclassed at this level. |
