At the Sha Tin racemeeting conducted yesterday, Jockey C Murray pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding and was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 17 September 2018 on which day he may resume race riding. During the inquiry, Jockey Murray requested the Racing Stewards defer the commencement date of the suspension until after Tuesday, 11 September 2018. During this period, two Hong Kong racemeetings are scheduled to be conducted.
Jockey Murray last night informed the Racing Stewards that he neglected to advise yesterday that he had accepted a race riding engagement at the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on Sunday, 16 September 2018.
As the Racing Stewards would have permitted Jockey Murray to fulfil this race riding engagement had they been made aware of the commitment when ruling on the period of suspension, the commencement date of the suspension would have been such that allowed Jockey Murray to fulfil the race riding engagement on 16 September 2018.
It has therefore been decided that Jockey Murray’s period of suspension from riding in races is now to commence on Saturday, 22 September 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 27 September 2018 on which day he may resume race riding. Two Hong Kong racemeetings will be held during the revised period of suspension which is consistent with the previous ruling.
