JUNE TAKE – FWD QEII CUP SHA TIN RACEMEETING – SUNDAY, 26 APRIL 2026

22/04/2026 22:29

Following JUNE TAKE pulling up quickly after completing trackwork this morning 22 April 2026 and after being transported by horse ambulance to the quarantine facility in accordance with standard practice, the horse was subject to a veterinary examination conducted by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and Head of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare & Biosecurity Policy Dr B Forbes.  In addition, diagnostic assessments (x-ray and ultrasound) were performed on the horse.  Dr Forbes reported that the veterinary inspections and diagnostic assessments did not reveal any significant finding.

In addition to the veterinary examination the Stewards interviewed Jockey J Moreira, who rode the horse in trackwork, and its trainer Mr H Take.  Jockey Moreira stated that the horse changed stride on several occasions in the Home Straight, which he has attributed to the horse being in new surroundings.  He stated after the horse pulled up quickly at the completion of trackwork, he dismounted the horse to move it from the trackwork line, as the horse would not respond to his efforts to move whilst mounted.  Mr Take stated that the horse can sometimes lose focus when working alone, and the horse has previously acted in a similar manner in Japan.  Mr Take stated JUNE TAKE has not displayed any lameness or veterinary condition in the lead up to today and is satisfied the horse is suitable to race this Sunday.  Mr Take advised that JUNE TAKE is scheduled to undertake standard pace work on 24 and 25 April 2026, in the lead up to Sunday’s race.

JUNE TAKE will be subject to further veterinary inspection after undertaking trackwork on 24 and 25 April 2026, where it will be ridden by Jockey Moreira.  A further release shall be made following these inspections.
