The New Going Code for the All Weather Track - Sealed

12/09/2023 12:21

The Club will introduce a new going condition applicable to the All Weather Track called the Sealed track condition.

The Sealed condition will be introduced for rating the All Weather Track from the new season onwards with the following definition:

•      Racing like a Good track rating with the surface sealed having not been harrowed in anticipation of rain to maintain surface quality and protect against rain infiltration.

A Sealed Track condition is introduced to accurately describe a Good track which is sealed, not harrowed and not affected by rain yet. It benefits the racing field & surface with a less sloppy conditions, kick back; avoid poor visibility with good footing if rain starts before or during racing.

Thus, the 2023/24 racing season sees the revision of going ratings for the All Weather Track as follows:

All Weather Track Going Rating description

Remarks

Fast

A condition after heavy rain and the weather has cleared and starting to dry the surface or on very hot and sunny days when the sub-surface is still very firm, raced under a harrowed surface

Good

The track has been prepared & harrowed under normal procedure and weather. The surface is raced in most meetings under such a condition

Slow

A condition when the sub-surface has become loose after a dry spell with surface harrowed

Sealed

Racing like a Good Track Rating but with the surface sealed having not been harrowed in anticipation of rain to maintain surface quality and protect against potential rain infiltration

Wet Fast

After heavy rain and on a sealed track

Wet Slow

Small amount of rain, only enough rain to make the surface muddy but not enough to tighten the sub-surface
