The Appeal lodged by Jockey C L Chau against the decision made by the Racing Stewards on 26 April 2023 to suspend him from riding in races from 3 May 2023 to 21 May 2023 (six Hong Kong race days), for improper riding [Rule 100(1)] when riding ASTROLOGER in Race 9 on 26 April 2023, was heard by the Stewards of the Jockey Club at 2:30 p.m. on 11 May 2023.  Jockey C L Chau appealed against both the finding and the penalty imposed.

The Appeal Panel carefully considered all the evidence taken in this case together with further statements taken at the hearing today.

The Panel dismissed the Appeal and Jockey Chau is suspended from riding in races from 24 May 2023 to 10 June 2023, and may resume riding in races on 11 June 2023.  The Panel further ordered the deposit be forfeited.
