Jockey S De Sousa has lodged a notice of appeal against the decision made by the Racing Stewards on 19 March 2023 finding him guilty of a charge of careless riding when riding SOARING TOWER in Race 1 at the race meeting in Sha Tin on 19 March 2023 and imposing a penalty of suspension from riding in races from 26 March 2023 to 2 April 2023 (both dates inclusive) and a fine of HK$60,000.  Jockey De Sousa is appealing against both the finding and the penalty imposed.

The Stewards of the Jockey Club have granted a suspension of the penalty imposed on Jockey De Sousa pending determination of his appeal.
