G2 – 2800m – Turf

1

Master Redoute

An erratic performer who tries this distance for the first time. Based on his penultimate, he could challenge, but don’t expect fireworks from this gelding.

2

Senso Unico

Runner-up to re-opposing Crome Yellow last time out over 2500m, he is in with a chance. He should relish the longer distance.

3

Arctic Drift

A very consistent performer of late, he looks the surprise package. Has produced some strong late runs over distance and is expected to do so again.

4

Baratheon

A natural frontrunner, he is expected to dictate. The slower the pace, the bigger his chance of staying in front in the sprint to the line.

5

Rex Union

Not in the best of form, he needs to improve to challenge for the honours. Difficult to make a case for him as he is also out at the weights.

6

Nebraas

A real stayer with five wins from seven runs over this distance category, and a good performance in his prep run, he is the one to beat.

7

Dubai Lights

Totally out at the weights, this five-year-old is unlikely to make an impact here. His merit rating is down seven points since the start of the season.

8

Salvator Mundi

An honest performer, he usually gives his best, but his best might not be good enough here. He has a serious place chance, but victory will be a surprise.

9

Silver Host

A tried and tested stayer, this son of Silvano is the biggest threat to Nebraas. All six of his career victories have come with Richard Fourie in the saddle and he is up again.

10

Belgarion

Winner of the Durban July in 2020, he hasn’t won in 777 days and has never attempted this distance. Difficult to know what trainer Justin Snaith’s plan is. Mystery runner.

11

Find Me Unafraid

A raider from Gavin Smith’s Eastern Cape yard, he was the back marker in his Kenilworth debut last time out. However, he can surprise with a place finish.

12

Crome Yellow

Jockey Grant van Niekerk has steered him to three Grade 3 wins in stayers’ events. The eight-year-old still has plenty of running in him and could follow up after winning last time.
