G1 – 1200m – Turf
1 |
A Case Of You |
Disappointed on only previous Ascot run, but he is twice a G1 winner including a terrific defeat of 15 speedsters at Meydan in March. |
2 |
Artorius |
Has tried different trips back home in Australia, but did win a 1200m G1 at Caulfield last year. Below his best on last two starts. |
3 |
Creative Force |
Has won his last two Ascot starts, latterly outspeeding his rivals in a G1 over this trip last October. The ground was slow then, but he’s won three times on fast. |
4 |
Diligent Harry |
Ran poorly in a G3 here last October with slow ground against him. Much better when a close second on his 2022 return. Fast ground ideal. |
5 |
Dragon Symbol |
Finished first in a heavy ground 1200m G1 at this meeting last year, only to be demoted. An encouraging run for his new stable last month. |
6 |
Emaraaty Ana |
A G1 winner on fast ground over this trip at Haydock last year, but not suited to Meydan according to trainer – running poorly. No previous Ascot experience. |
7 |
Garrus |
A G3 winner over this trip in France last year, and since came close to another G3 win, at Newmarket. Unlikely to be fast enough for this. |
8 |
Glen Shiel |
This tough veteran can boast some terrific performances at Ascot including second in this last year. Best on a slow surface. |
9 |
Great Ambassador |
Not seen this season but has won after a break and looks best at this trip and on fast ground. But with something to find on ratings. |
10 |
Grenadier Guards |
Has fast-ground G1 winning form in Japan in 2020. But he seems better over longer trips now. This may be too difficult. |
11 |
Gustavus Weston |
Has a very good record over this trip at The Curragh, a G2 winner and twice a G3 winner. But all those came on slow ground. |
12 |
Happy Power |
Ran a cracker when fourth in this last year. But the ground was slow then, and on fast ground in a G1 he probably needs at least 1400m. |
13 |
Home Affairs |
This Australian speedball has two brilliant performances up the Flemington straight which gives him every chance here. Those wins include his defeat of super stablemate Nature Strip. |
14 |
King’s Lynn |
Not quick enough in the 1000m G1 sprint on Tuesday, finishing seventh. A very talented speedster, but this is a tough ask just four days later. |
15 |
Kinross |
Continually met traffic when ninth in a 1200m G1 here last October. But he looks better over 1400m than this trip. |
16 |
Minzaal |
All good runs at Ascot, notably a fast-finishing third in a 1200m G1. Probably needed his 2022 return at York. |
17 |
Naval Crown |
Runner-up in a 1400m G3 on soft ground at this meeting last year. Not seen since finishing fast for fourth over 1200m in a Meydan G1 in March. |
18 |
Run To Freedom |
Another of the stable’s sprinters ran a cracking second in Tuesday’s G1 sprint here. This guy posted a career best last time, outspeeding rivals at Windsor. |
19 |
Alcohol Free |
Needs prove she has enough speed, her last two G1 wins coming over 1600m. Ground not too fast please. |
20 |
Campanelle |
Just beaten but awarded the race in a Royal Ascot G1 last year, having won here in 2020 also. Warmed up for this with a Keeneland victory in April. Slow ground ideal but she handles fast. |
21 |
Double Or Bubble |
Worth a try at this as she likes fast ground and this trip. Her victory at Newmarket in April on her 2022 return looked a career best. |
22 |
Happy Romance |
Hasn’t done especially well in two previous G1 runs here, though in the second of those she had a difficult passage. Good second in a Meydan G1 in March. |
23 |
Highfield Princess |
This bargain purchase seems to love this track, and beat 27 rivals in a 1400m handicap at Royal Ascot 2021. A 1200m G2 winner at York last time. |
24 |
Sacred |
Not seen since decisively winning a 1400m G2 at Newbury last August. Has won after a break before and is best on quick ground. |
25 |
Umm Kulthum |
Had training issues last year but showed what she could do when fighting hard to win a 1200m Listed event at Newmarket in April. |
26 |
Vadream |
Will be an outsider but a stiff 1200m suits her well and she did win a 1200m G3 here last October. Slow ground preferred. |
27 |
Ventura Diamond |
Has won on fast ground but looks more of a slow ground speedster. Ran poorly on 2022 debut. |
