Listed – 2003m – Turf
1 |
Cadillac |
Fitted with first-time blinkers he bounced back to top form when always travelling nicely and winning an 1800m Listed event at Leopardstown this month. |
2 |
Dubai Future |
The ratings would give him a bit of a chance but he was outpaced over this trip last time, looking to need further. |
3 |
Majestic Dawn |
A gutsy horse, qualities he didn’t really need to show when leading throughout and easily winning a Listed contest at Goodwood last month. |
4 |
New Mandate |
Has twice flopped when confronted with G1 company, but this will be easier and he did win in Listed company here – over 1600m – in April. But this trip is an issue. |
5 |
Star Safari |
First start at Ascot, Meydan being where he has competed most including a Listed win and a narrow G3 defeat, both over this trip, earlier in 2022. |
6 |
Certain Lad |
Has a good win and place strike-rate though didn’t perform well on his only previous Ascot start. One or two others preferred. |
7 |
Foxes Tales |
Twice not beaten far in G3 company this season. Also positive that he won over this trip at this meeting a year ago. Versatile groundwise. |
8 |
Harrovian |
First start for this four-time winner since struggling in G1 company at Meydan. But this is the ideal trip for this prominent racer. |
9 |
Juan Elcano |
Fast ground and a first start after a wind operation saw him land a surprise victory in this last year. Should be sharper for his 2022 return at Sandown. |
10 |
Movin Time |
Ran quite well in a G3 at Royal Ascot last year, without looking like winning. Needs to improve on both 2022 starts. |
11 |
Palavecino |
A big odds outsider and duly outclassed in a G1 at Epsom this month. A difficult ride who is also unlikely to be good enough here. |
12 |
Perotto |
Looking for his first win since surviving a slow start to win a 2021 Royal Ascot handicap over the straight 1600m. Not certain to last this trip. |
13 |
Regal Reality |
A good third in this in 2020 especially considering the slow ground didn’t suit him. Has often run well after a break before. |
14 |
Tasman Bay |
Made fast improvement throughout last season, including a very good second in a G2 at Royal Ascot. Might try to lead. Slow ground will help. |
15 |
West End Charmer |
His last three career wins have come at around this trip which is positive, and he also finished strongly on his latest start. A fast pace would help. |
16 |
Aristia |
Bred to improve with age and nearly landed a shock win at York last time – leading and just caught. The only filly in this but she can’t be ignored. |
