G1 – 1200m – Dirt
1 |
Al Tariq |
An outsider for this last year and never a serious player. The figures suggest that his three course and distance Meydan runs this year have been better than that but others are still preferred. |
2 |
Dr. Schivel |
Has had a break since running a stinker, but some earlier sprinting dirt form would give him every chance, including his narrow defeat in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Tactically versatile. |
3 |
Drain The Clock |
Not short of pace even if he mostly competes over further. However he did get the better of a speed duel to win an allowance optional claiming race over this trip at Gulfstream Park last December. |
4 |
Eastern World |
Unfancied in the betting – after a collection of defeats over longer – but, dropping to 1200m and fitted with a visor, he refused to surrender the lead he had established 300m out in a G3 here this month. |
5 |
Everfast |
Has improved since joining this Dubai stable with a win and a G2 and G1 place. For the first time in his career he now drops to a sprinting trip, an adventurous project. |
6 |
Good Effort |
His nine career wins have come over a variety of surfaces but he is very effective at 1200m and only lost a clear lead in the last strides of a G3 here in 2021. Still seems in good shape. |
7 |
Manjeer |
Has had quite a long career but was trying dirt for the first time in a 1200m G3 here this month, and it seemed to suit as he ran second to Eastern World. |
8 |
Meraas |
Has thrived since moving from the UK to Dubai, and today’s red-hot rider seems to have played a part. They have won on both starts, bravely fending off challengers in a 1200m G3 last time. |
9 |
Mobaadel |
Has won two of his last three starts – in Bahrain – over this trip but on a grass surface. Will need to prove himself on dirt and against notably stiffer opposition. |
10 |
Red Le Zele |
Supporters will hope that he can build on his second in this last year, finishing fast as one might suspect of a horse who often competes over longer trips. A poor run last time. |
11 |
Strongconstitution |
Drops back in distance – after suffering a very wide trip last time – running here in preference to the Godolphin Mile. His pedigree boasts speed and he has a respectable chance. |
12 |
Switzerland |
This 1200m specialist did land a shock G3 win over this course and distance early last year and a lesser event here this January. His best form has come after an absence. |
13 |
Wondrwherecraigis |
The US challenger has won his last two starts decisively – a 1400m G3 at Belmont Park and then when showing speed throughout to win over this trip at Laurel Park in January. |
14 |
Chain Of Love |
Has winning form over this trip in Japan. Struggling to get a clear passage but still managed a respectable third in a valuable 1200m G3 at Riyadh last month. |
