G1 – 1600m – Turf

1

Champers Elysees

Only tenth at half-way but then delivered a powerful challenge to win this G1 last year. Hasn’t won since but one or two very solid efforts including a close G3 second at The Curragh last month.

2

Dreamloper

A temperamental filly according to her trainer but very talented on her day as she showed when winning a G3 over this trip at Ascot in July.

3

Epona Plays

Always prominent, she was a very impressive G2 winner over 1600m at The Curragh in May. That was on slow ground but she can handle a quicker ground also.

4

Pearls Galore

In great shape and no surprise to see her up to G1 grade after emphatic G3 victories at Fairyhouse and Tipperary. Races prominently. Wants good ground or quicker.

5

Acanella

Delivered a clear career-best last month with a surprise 1800m G3 victory at The Curragh, quite comfortably holding the winner of this race last year. Reportedly works brilliantly at home.

6

Belle Image

Ran way better than her long odds suggested when a close fourth in a G1 Irish Classic in May, running well in another G1 last time. But a big surprise if she won this.

7

Empress Josephine

Fought hard to land a surprise win in a G1 Irish Classic over this trip at The Curragh in May. Less good in two G1’s since. Slow ground seems her ideal surface.

8

Flirting Bridge

Encouraging that her best run was over this course and distance, second to a subsequent G1 winner. Less encouraging on recent starts and rivals look preferred.

9

Friendly

Kept busy this year with nine runs since April. Only win came in a maiden and has looked vulnerable when confronting this class of opposition.

10

Mother Earth

This seems the perfect trip for this filly who gained her second 1600m G1 victory of 2021 when responding generously to strong pressure to beat 13 rivals at Deauville last month.

11

No Speak Alexander

Only tenth in a G1 at Deauville last time but badly hampered then. Led and eventually third in an Irish Classic in May, proving that she could hold her own in G1 company.

12

Pretty Gorgeous

Excellent efforts last year, winning a G2 and G1 and looking to favour slow ground. Ran well but not well enough in G1’s earlier this year but a disappointing favourite last time.

13

Shale

A 1400m G1 winner at The Curragh last year. However so far she has failed to show the same flair in 2021.
