The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased two colts at the recent 2021 Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville, France for a total cost of €620,000 (approx. HK$5.728 million).
The athletic youngsters represent a pair of proven stallions, the first is by the exceptional Frankel, who won 14 races without defeat and 10 at G1 level; the second is by Showcasing, a high-class two-year-old racer who is the only sire of two G1 Commonwealth Cup winners as both Quiet Reflection (2016) and Advertise (2019) reigned supreme in the Royal Ascot dash.
Lot 91, Frankel’s bay son out of the speedy mare Sabratah was purchased by the Club for €320,000. Juddmonte’s brilliant champion has tasted considerable success across the globe as a sire in Great Britain, Ireland, France, Japan and Australia as well as in Hong Kong with G3-triumphant, Simply Brilliant, who boasts a brave third to Beauty Generation in the 2019 G1 FWD Champions Mile.
Lot 92, an athletic chestnut colt fell the Club’s way for €300,000. Sired by Showcasing – a formidable source of early performers – the juvenile is a half-brother to Straight Right, a Listed Stakes winner in France as a three-year-old in the Prix de la Californie at Cagnes-sur-Mer over a mile.
