1400m – Turf
1 | Mr McCann | Has won two of his five starts though the figures suggest his best run was when fourth in a Newmarket G2 even though he couldn’t dominate which seems his preferred tactics. |
2 | Maglev | Led in the last stride at Yarmouth last month and might have followed up in a stronger event at Chester with a better passage. Stable in great form. |
3 | Alflaila | Makes his handicap debut off a reasonable mark considering that he should improve moving up to 1400m. Found one rival too strong in a Newmarket novices’ event last time. |
4 | Aswan | Has done little wrong in all four starts and got off the mark on his handicap debut over 1400m at Goodwood last time. A very different track here but the 4lb rise looks fair. |
5 | Tropez Power | Awarded a 1200m novices’ event at Newbury last month after being carried left and bumped. Very disappointing on his subsequent handicap debut. |
6 | Harrow | Not a straightforward ride, the jockey having to work to keep him straight at Ffos Las last time, but they scored a head win on the fast ground. Handicapping now. |
7 | Neptune Legend | Leading, he never really looked like losing a handicap at Newmarket this month, looking to thrive for the step up to this distance. A higher mark but not prevent another big run. |
8 | Global Wisdom | Despite missing the break and needing to be shoved along, he made a winning career debut, at Haydock. Then third of three at Chester but pedigree positive about this rise in trip. |
9 | Whitefeathersfall | Came close to beating a subsequent winner over this trip at Haydock in June. Missed the break and nothing went his way in a Goodwood handicap last time. |
10 | Bastogne | Behind and being pushed along but he finished well in a Goodwood handicap, only 0.5L away from pulling off a huge shock. Further progress would give him a chance. |
11 | Highland Premiere | Especially impressive when leading from start to finish over this trip at Catterick two starts back. Sweating beforehand prior to a dismal run at Goodwood last time. |
12 | Caio Shark | The jump from 1000m to around this trip proved successful when he won at Haydock in May. Returning for this first venture into handicap company. |
13 | Desert Angel | His last three runs have all suggested that a win is close, and despite losing a shoe he finished third – well clear of the fourth – in a Newmarket handicap this month. |
14 | Outgate | Quickened well to beat modest rivals on the all-weather on his debut. Showed some good tactical speed again on his second start – on turf – finding a couple of rivals just too quick. |
15 | Point Lynas | Looks tricky and can hang. He has hinted at ability but, although second over 1593m last time, he could never get near the impressive front-running winner. |
16 | The Dunkirk Lads | Landed a shock win at Carlisle on his penultimate start helped by the uphill finish there. Outpaced last time, but could be helped by the move up to 1400m. |
