G2 – 2392m – Turf

1

Bangkok

All winning form at 2000m. Useful but not quite up to this class.

2

Broome

Not won at beyond 2000m. Useful and only just beaten in G1 at the Curragh over 2100m last month. A little more needed and decent chance.

3

Deja

6-y-o. Improved last year, runner-up over course and distance in Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot. This demands more. Well beaten this season and an unlikely winner.

4

Highest Ground

Trainer Sir Michael Stoute has outstanding record in this race with 11 wins. Lightly raced 4-y-o won small race over 2400m 12 days ago. Yet to show up to this class but not ruled out.

5

Hukum

Improved since winning King George V Stakes over this trip at Royal Ascot last year. Warmed up by winning Listed race at Goodwood last month and a decent chance.

6

Ilaraab

Unbeaten since debut a year ago. Improved again to win decent handicap over 2400m on reappearance at York last month. Needs to improve again but may do so.

7

Japan

Versatile regarding distance. Often raced at G1 level and won two in 2019. Not quite as good since and well beaten in G1 Coronation Cup at Epsom 15 days ago. Drop in grade needed and only fair chance.

8

Logician

Lightly raced 5-y-o.  Rapid improvement in 2019 and won G1 St Leger over 2900m. Flopped when odds-on favourite in G3 last October and well beaten third to Al Aasy on return last month. Needs a revival.

9

Mogul

High class. Won G1 Grand Prix de Paris and G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Vase over this trip last year. Distant last in G1 Coronation Cup 15 days ago concerning. Decent chance if back to best.

10

Pablo Escobarr

Won G3 over this trip at Goodwood last summer but overall form not good enough and distant last on return in G2 at Newmarket last month.

11

Sir Ron Priestley

Missed whole of 2020 but returned better than ever. Beat useful Pyledriver to win G2 at Newmarket over 2400m last month and respectable run since. Suited by fast ground. A decent chance.

12

Thunderous

Progressive last two years. May have reached limit of improvement. Well beaten behind Sir Ron Priestley and then by impressive Al Aasy. A hard task.

13

Tiger Moth

Lightly raced 4-y-o. Close second in last year’s Irish Derby and runner-up in Melbourne Cup over 3200m. Disappointing last on reappearance in G1 at Curragh over 2100m on soft ground last month. Can expect better.

14

Albaflora

Soft ground probably a factor when ran away with Listed race over course and distance last month. Put in place by stronger competition on less suitable track in G1 Coronation Cup at Epsom 15 days ago. Not ruled out.

15

Wonderful Tonight

Followed up success in G1 Prix de Royallieu at Longchamp with victory in G1 Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes last October. Useful and could improve further but not seen since.
