G1 – 1200m – Turf
1 |
A Case Of You |
Though tried over further it has now become clear to connections that sprinting is his game, showing winning speed in a Naas G3 last month. Best on slow ground. |
2 |
Diligent Harry |
His all-weather sprint performances have been memorable in recent months, especially his defeat of some very fast rivals at Lingfield last time. Optimism from his pedigree for turf. |
3 |
Dragon Symbol |
Gained a major reputation as uncatchable on all-weather surfaces earlier in 2021. In a Haydock G2 last time not much went right but he still ran a cracking second on the grass. |
4 |
Fivethousandtoone |
Will have to win this on his first start since last October, a tricky challenge. Best effort in 2020 was a strong-finishing close second in a Newbury G2. |
5 |
Jumby |
Yet to run a poor race whilst the figures suggest continued improvement, highlighted by his fluent win under top weight in a Newmarket handicap last time. But G1 company now. |
6 |
Laws Of Indices |
A G2 winner over this trip last year and has run with credit on both 2021 starts, latterly when always up with the speed and sticking on well when a close fourth in a Naas G3. |
7 |
Lipizzaner |
Effective at quite a high level over this trip last season but he’s been a beaten favourite in both 2021 starts. |
8 |
Method |
Three out of four classy efforts as a two-year, probably best suited to this 1200m trip. A respectable return at Haydock last month, the heavy ground not ideal. |
9 |
Mighty Gurkha |
No wins yet on a turf surface, hardly an advertisement that he is about to win this G1 prize. Might try and lead but surely won’t stay in front. |
10 |
Saint Lawrence |
Ran a solid second in a trial for this here in April. Well beaten in a Haydock G2 last time. Maybe heavy ground was to blame but it was still disappointing. |
11 |
Supremacy |
Showed some thrilling speed at two, especially winning a 1200m Newmarket G1 from the front. Now needs to be forgiven a very modest 2021 return here at Ascot. |
12 |
The Lir Jet |
Showed sparkling speed to win a 1000m Royal Ascot G2 in 2020 on just his second career start. Narrowly defeated on his 2021 return. Hated heavy ground last time. |
13 |
Campanelle |
This lightly-raced US-trained speed machine won a G2 here last year before thrashing her rivals in a G1 at Deauville. Now must show the same devastating speed as she had as a youngster. |
14 |
Dandalla |
A G3 and G2 winner at two, but hasn’t managed to so far confirm that brilliance this season. though the rain-soaked ground didn’t help at Haydock last time. |
15 |
Happy Romance |
Has certainly progressed from two to three judging by a Listed all-weather win, but looks vulnerable to classier rivals. |
16 |
Isabella Giles |
Very talented at two, including a G2 victory. Hasn’t lived up to that this year but not beaten far in all three starts. |
17 |
Measure Of Magic |
Looks really smart, having won both starts this season – including in Listed company at Cork with something to spare. |
18 |
Miss Amulet |
This is her ideal trip and best on slow ground as she showed when winning a G2 at York last year. Back to a sprint trip after making no impact in a 1600m G1 last month. |
19 |
Mooneista |
Getting stronger as the race went on she won a Listed event at Naas, again showing a lot of speed last time. Has a very willing attitude. |
20 |
Sacred |
Responded gamely to jockey pressure when a 1400m G3 Newmarket winner in April. Failed to last 1600m last time so down to a sprinters’ trip. |
21 |
Suesa |
Brilliant French-trained speedsters are less frequent than UK-trained ones but Suesa appears to be very fast, again leaving her rivals behind in a Chantilly G3 last time. All runs so far on slow ground. |
