G2 – 1610m – Turf
1 |
Champers Elysees |
A classy Irish-trained filly and unlucky not to have finished closer than fourth in a 1600m G1 at Newmarket last October, having previously won a G1 at Leopardstown. Twice a beaten favourite this season. |
2 |
Lady Bowthorpe |
Stable continue to thrive since she briefly looked like pulling an almighty shock in a 1600m G1 at Newbury last month, only beaten by probably Europe’s best 1600m horse. Tough and reliable. |
3 |
Queen Power |
Looks like a real improver, who has now been taught to use her energy at the end of a race as she showed with a runaway G2 York win last time. She ran a good third in this last year. |
4 |
Agincourt |
Almost gained a shock win in this last year, just caught. An encouraging start to 2021 at Goodwood and this big mare often improves for her seasonal reappearance. |
5 |
Bounce The Blues |
Twice a 1400m winner when Irish-trained. Yet to win for Andrew Balding but has twice finished a close second including when having an abysmal passage in a G3 at Lingfield last month. |
6 |
Double Or Bubble |
From an in-form stable, her recent wins have been in handicap company, last time when surging clear over 1400m at Newmarket. Up in class and distance and wants fast ground. |
7 |
Fooraat |
Her trainer insists that she wants fast ground and will improve on what she has shown so far when she gets it. Has recovered from an infected foot since a decent show at Kempton. |
8 |
Indie Angel |
Didn’t run well over this course and distance once last year. She ran an encouraging fourth in an 1800m G2 at Newmarket last month despite racing too keenly. Wants quick ground. |
9 |
Lavender’s Blue |
Her two turf victories have been over this trip, latterly in a G3 at Sandown, showing courage to squeeze through a gap. Good efforts also in 2021 but she’ll need to improve to win this. |
10 |
Onassis |
Defied a difficult gate to spring a shock Royal Ascot win last year (coming back from a break like now) in a handicap over this straight 1600m. Has won two Listed races since, proving that was no fluke. |
11 |
Parent’s Prayer |
Arrives here off easily her best performance when stylishly dominating from gate to wire in a G3 at Epsom this month. This is a very different track, but she might try and boss again. |

Withdrawn from an Epsom G3 this month because of slowing ground. A talented mare but quirky and sometimes plays up at the gate. A Listed Sandown winner last year, she will need to relax early on. |
13 |
Valeria Messalina |
Her in-form trainer insists that she needs fast ground and that it was too slow when she made no impact in a G2 at The Curragh last time. Won a 1400m G3 at Cork last July. |
