The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) has opened 19 Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs) since 8 January to provide services under strict implementation of public health measures. As Lunar New Year approaches, there will be significant increases in the customer demand for OCBB services as in the previous years, leading to overcrowding and bringing public health challenges to the OCBBs. After thorough consideration of all factors, the Club has decided to open other OCBBs from 7 February to reduce customer flow with a view to protecting the public health. The Club will not open any OCBB located in the “specified area” as delineated by the HKSAR Government and hence 67 OCBBs will be open. However, the Club will make appropriate adjustments of the opening arrangements in response to the prevailing situation of COVID-19 and its impact to different districts. The OCBBs will be providing the services of betting account deposits or withdrawals, cash-in of cash vouchers or winning tickets and opening or re-activation of betting accounts. Betting services will not be available. In addition, the opening hours of OCBBs from 4 February will be changed to 12:00 nn to 6:00 pm.

To prevent over-crowding, horse races and football matches will not be broadcast at the OCBBs. All services will be provided behind the service counter to uphold a more stringent control of social distancing. Customers are required to leave the OCBBs after completion of service. Public health measures including body temperature scanning, mask-wearing, social distancing and cleaning and disinfecting will continue to be implemented in the OCBBs.
