G1 – 1600m – Turf
Alson |
An experienced winner of four of his six starts in 2019, landing a 1400m G1 on his final start by 20L, though with only one rival to beat on the muddy Longchamp turf. Has moved to champion trainer Andre Fabre prior to this 2020 debut. |
Arapaho | Has avoided top company so far but has proved gradually progressive. Most recently he returned from a 277-day break to respond to strong jockey pressure and narrowly win a 1400m Listed event at Longchamp. |
Celestin | Made fast progress at two, winning his last two starts easily – over this trip but at minor tracks. A shade disappointing on his three-year-old debut at Chantilly, starting a hot favourite but unable to get to grips with one of his seven rivals. |
Ecrivain | His promising two-year-old reputation was enhanced when he ran 2nd in a G3 at Longchamp on his return, especially good as he met with interference at a crucial stage. |
Kenway | Kept busy as a two-year-old including racing over sprint distances and winning a 1400m G3 at Longchamp. He ran much better than his huge odds suggested when a close fourth to The Summit in a Longchamp G3 in May. He will probably struggle here. |
Reshabar |
Has started at long odds on all three starts but that did not prevent him making a victorious 2020 return when easily winning a 1600m conditions event at Chantilly last time with some well-regarded types behind. |
The Summit | Had not looked a superstar at two but following an encouraging 2020 debut he won a G3 trial for this at Longchamp, leading from gate to wire on the slow surface. Likely to find this G1 assignment tougher. |
Victor Ludorum | Looked a live candidate for this after his excellent and unbeaten two-year-old season including a G1 Longchamp verdict. A disappointing 3rd on his G3 return this month but raced too freely and had to challenge wide there and anyhow is expected to be much sharper this time. |
Shinning Ocean | Supplemented into this and he had clearly thrived over the winter judging by his decisive 1600m victory at Longchamp in May. A big class rise, but worth a shot. |
