Jockey Keith M L Yeung, who reported he had an elevated temperature and felt unwell on Sunday (22 March) night was examined last night by the Club’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The CMO reported that at the time of examination Yeung had a normal temperature but, as a precaution, she had taken a nasal swab for analysis.

The CMO has reported that Jockey Yeung’s test result for COVID-19 PCR is negative.

As an additional precautionary measure, the CMO has recommended that Jockey Yeung be tested again tomorrow morning and not attend track work. The Club has adopted that advice and also decided that Jockey Yeung will not ride at the Happy Valley race meeting this Wednesday (25 March). Rider substitutes will be announced tomorrow.

Jockeys Derek K C Leung and Blake Shinn will attend track work tomorrow and fulfil their riding engagements at the 25 March race meeting.

As an additional precautionary measure, the CMO has recommended that the two Jockeys who were sitting close to Yeung today in the Jockeys Room, namely Derek Leung and Blake Shinn, should not attend trackwork tomorrow morning pending the test result, which will be available on Monday afternoon.

Jockeys Yeung, Leung and Shinn will be allowed to declare for Wednesday’s Happy Valley race meeting. The Club will publish press release to advise latest update in due course.
