The Stewards have spoken to Trainer W Y So regarding his application to remove Blinkers from the gear to be worn by GOODLUCK GOODLUCK in this race. Prior to being trained by him, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK was successful at its most recent start on 3 June 2018 when carrying Blinkers and a Ring Bit.
Mr So stated that he has been working GOODLUCK GOODLUCK without Blinkers in its trackwork after joining his stable, and he has been pleased by that work. Consequently Mr So barrier trialed GOODLUCK GOODLUCK without Blinkers on 28 December 2019 and 7 January 2020, and he believes that the horse performed satisfactorily in those trials. To reaffirm that view he reapplied Blinkers to GOODLUCK GOODLUCK in its barrier trial on 18 January 2020, and Mr So stated that based on the horse’s performance in that trial he is confident that it will race better without Blinkers. Mr So also added that he trialed GOODLUCK GOODLUCK again on 4 February 2020 without Blinkers as a part of the horse’ preparation for this race.
Having considered Mr So’s application and after viewing the footages of the horse’s recent barrier trials, the Stewards acceded to Mr So’s request for the Blinkers to be removed from GOODLUCK GOODLUCK in this race. Accordingly, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK will race with a Ring Bit only.
