1400m – Dirt

Ashaka Lien

2 wins from 26 outings including 1 win and 4 placings from 13 starts at Kyoto. Took a win in this class last April. Winless in 11 starts since and finished below par in 6 starts this term. Hold up runner with closing speed.

Kisekino Tsuzuki

2 wins over course and distance from 13 career starts. Last won in October 2016. This is his first start up since April. Settles in midpack or better.

Quantum Shift

1 win from 8 outings which includes 7 runs on turf. His first appearance on dirt was over 1800m at Chukyo in July last out when he finished below par due to interference. His only win was over 1800m turf at Kyoto last October. Still unknown over the surface. Sits handily.

Grand Victory

1 win from 7 starts on turf and dirt.  Finished in the top 3 in all four starts since shifting to dirt in May, running 2nd once at the course and distance. Consistent runner and tactically versatile.

Copano Martin

Won once at the course and distance from 16 starts on both turf and dirt. He has a staying power. Connections have been trying to find his best trip so far but found the 1400m dirt the best for him. Sits handily.

Tokai Orage

Won once over 1400m from 9 outings on turf. First appearance on dirt this time. His strong conformation and powerful run should suit dirt. He has lots of scope and must be the one to focus on. Hold-up runner.

Dracaena

1 win from 6 starts on turf and 1 third from 3 starts on dirt. Smart 3rd over 1400m dirt at Hanshin on 16 September last out. This is his third race up from three-month absence. Usually settles midfield.  Chance.

Namura Shepherd

Won impressively over 1400m dirt at Chukyo in July, sole win from 13 starts. That was at yielding surface and it proved his suitability to the rain affected track. Ran three seconds in 5 outings over the distance at Kyoto. Sits handily.

Peptide Oliva

Won on debut over 1400m dirt at Hanshin last December. Well beaten in three subsequent starts since. First appearance on the distance at Kyoto. Hold-up runner.

Meiner Precise

1 win over 1400m from 14 outings. Best a 2nd at the distance from 5 previous starts at Kyoto. Smart 5th at this class on 14 September two starts back. Takes lead, otherwise he cannot run his race.

Meisho Onite

Has run only on turf in 8 starts, with a win over 1400m. This will be his first start out on dirt.  He is a very light horse, the rain affected track will suit him. Can lead or sit handily.

Molto Grande

From 6 starts, 1 win over the distance at Hanshin in March but finished below par in all three starts at Kyoto. Hold-up runner with closing speed. Will be important to keep up with the pace early in the race.
