The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Pre-Season Carnival, an annual fun-filled event for the whole family, will be held on Saturday, 24 August, at Sha Tin Racecourse. The Carnival will again extend from the Racecourse Grandstand to Penfold Park, to offer a spectrum of entertainment. Ticket combos at HK$65 each will go on sale from Monday, 12 August, at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches, until sold out. The onsite “Guess the Winner” contest of the annual Jockeys’ Sprint will offer prizes totalling over HK$16,000, with a two-in-one air-purifying fan as the grand prize*, while the “Share Your Best Moment!” photo competition will be offering a sports camera valued at HK$2,999 and a Switch game console valued at HK$2,340 as the first and second prizes, respectively.
Visitors can participate in a number of fun and novel activities, such as the “Bamboo Fun” upcycling workshop, organised in collaboration with the non-profit making organisation GREEN COME TRUE. Driven by upcycling initiatives, the workshop will share DIY techniques to create items such as swings and Chinese musical gongs from recycled bamboo collected from the Chinese New Year Fair, and wind chimes made out of bamboo and recycled horseshoes. Another activity, KMB Road Safety City, engineered by the KMB Design1933 team, seeks to instill road safety among youngsters. And for the second year in a row, the 4M STEAM Fun Academy promises lots of fun for kids while helping them improve their STEM knowledge.
For ease of navigation, the Carnival offers six fun and game zones. Stage performances, roving shows and prize-winning games can be enjoyed throughout the day. Outdoor activities at Penfold Park include the ever-popular Pony Ride, Photo Taking with Shetland Ponies, as well as the all-new Water Gun Land. On the turf track, the annual Jockeys’ Sprint will be as exciting as it is a spectacle to watch, while the grass trials will offer visitors a sneak preview of the racing action ahead of the new season, which kicks off with the opening meeting scheduled for Sunday, 1 September.
The Pre-Season Carnival will be held from 11:00am to 7:30p.m on 24 August. Ticket combos go on sale from Monday, 12 August, at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches (see Attachment 2), until sold out. Each ticket combo costs HK$65 and includes an admission ticket(HK$15), a food and beverage cash coupon (HK$10), four game coupons (HK$40) and a merchandise discount coupon. There is no admission charge for children aged three and below.
