2000m – Turf

Made To Lead
Won a handicap at Chantilly and also at Lyon last year both over 1800m. However not much to show from this year’s efforts and she looks to have quite a difficult task under a big weight here.

Jizellita
Her trainer is planning to try her at Listed level but he does say that she needs soft ground. Twice a winner from eight starts, and a good fourth at Saint-Cloud last month. This looks her right distance.

Winfola
Has run well over this course and distance, finishing second in a handicap last April. She also fought hard to win her only start this season, at a provincial track. Three horses flashed past the post together and she got the verdict.

Lanana
Did win twice during a busy 18-race schedule in 2018. Also a good third at Chantilly on her final 2018 start but apart from an encouraging first start of 2019, she has been disappointing in recent months.

La Poutanesca
Failed to win in ten starts last season, mostly well beaten. However in much better shape now including the defeat of 13 rivals in a heavy-ground 1600m handicap at Compeigne in March. Not yet proven at 2000m.

Blue Hills
Did manage three wins last season at provincial French tracks, two of them over this distance. Seventh is her best placing from four starts this season, but she is beginning to look better handicapped now.

Fuenteesteis
Has done much of her racing in Spain, and her last win came over 2200m in Madrid in April 2018. Not beaten far when third of 16 in a 1900m handicap on the all-weather track at Chantilly in April.

Holdbacktheriver
Didn’t run particularly well on her only previous start here but that was over only 1700m. However she did win twice at the end of last year, including in a Saint-Cloud handicap over 2100m, looking to thrive on the testing ground there.

Shendeliya
A small filly whose shrewd trainer predicts she is better than her current rating. This is only her fifth career start which includes a maiden race win at Clairefontaine. Made a promising start to 2019 when fourth over this course and distance last month.

Connivence
Began her career with a win when trained by champion Andre Fabre. That was back in 2017 but she became disappointing. Her recent third at Bordeaux for a different stable was encouraging and she might be favourably handicapped now.

Zillione Sun
Only once a winner – over 2200m at Fontainebleau 14 months ago – but has been placed plenty of times and is one of the biggest money earners in this field. Both starts this season have suggested she may be winning again soon.

Alcama Doloise
Winner of a 1900m Chantilly all-weather handicap last December and last June was not beaten far on her only previous start at Longchamp. Nothing special so far from three starts this season but effective at this distance.

Vespera
Like many of her rivals here she doesn’t have a particularly good winning strike rate but she did win over 1600m at Compeigne last September. Some disappointments followed and she moves up to 2000m for the first time now.

Frequence Mag
Her sole win came over further than this – at Craon last September. However she has run decently on all two starts this season and only narrowly failed to justify favouritism in a very competitive 2100m handicap at Saint-Cloud last month.

Eleni
This German-trained filly is quite useful and comes here fresh off a fairly comprehensive defeat of 15 rivals in a 2000m event at a provincial French track. Stronger opposition here, but she looks one of the better chances.

Sans Regret
Her last 13 starts have come over further than this but she should be effective over 2000m. Ran much better than her odds of 62-1 might have suggested when third in a Saint-Cloud handicap last November. First start since then now.

Zoelola
Didn’t show much on her only previous Longchamp visit but that was over shorter. Quite comfortably won a 1900m handicap at Chantilly last month, and, though that was on the all-weather, she is adaptable and smart on turf also.

Paris Paris
Last October she won a 1900m handicap around Chantilly’s all-weather track. Has run well on turf subsequently but it was a below par effort at Saint-Cloud last month.

Heads Together
Her two career wins have come over this distance around the left hand bend at Fontainebleau. That second win came last month when she showed a good finishing kick.

Medha
She is having a good season, winning twice and placed on her other three starts. Her victory by a neck at Compeigne last month was particularly meritorious as that 1800m trip looks short of ideal.
