What would be better than to start a new year at a fun and fabulous party?  The “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” at Sha Tin Racecourse offers racegoers a chance to get 2019 off to a galloping start with thrilling races and spectacular on-course activities.  And with a total of $100 million up for grabs in racing and Mark Six jackpots during the first three days of the year, there is plenty to cheer about.

Mega prize worth $100 million

Race fans will benefit from “Lucky Start” top-ups on 1 January. For the Triple Trio the payout for a single $10 winning unit is estimated to reach $18 million.  Meanwhile, the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool for Race 7 and Race 11 will be topped up with $1 million each. In addition, the estimated First Division Prize Fund for the Mark Six New Year Snowball Draw, held on 3 January, may reach $80 million. Together these special mega prizes add up to $100 million to celebrate the New Year.

Free lucky tote bag upon admission

On New Year’s Day, all racegoers will receive a stylish tote bag, symbolizing good luck throughout the year, on admission to the racecourses until the start of Race 6, or while stocks last.

Celebrities to bring good luck

TV celebrities Moon Lau and Dickson Yu will be this year’s Lucky Stars.  They will be on course at Sha Tin Racecourse to bring good luck and greet racegoers at Forecourt during the “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday”.

Snap IG Moments to Win Prize

Racegoers can experience the thrills of racing at Sha Tin Racecourse and take photos at popular attractions such as the Silent Witness horse statue, the Parade Ring and the trackside Public Forecourt. Share your photos taken on 1 January at Sha Tin Racecourse on Instagram (account has to be set for public viewing) with the hashtag #LuckyStart for a chance to take home fabulous prizes.

In addition, racegoers can join the game booths at Concourse to win some souvenirs for a lucky start to 2019. Also, a photo corner at 1/F Grandstand II and roving mascots will be available for photo opportunities.

New range of merchandise for 2019

A brand new range of Lucky Series merchandise will be launched on 1 January at Sha Tin Racecourse. All merchandise items will be available at designated sales counters on the 1/F, Grandstand II and 1/F Members’ Betting Hall, as well as the Gift at Races souvenir shops at Sha Tin Racecourse.
