| De Medici | All six career starts have been this year, mostly good efforts. He probably did best in a Leicester handicap two starts back over a similar distance to this, only beaten by a fast-improving type who has won again since. |
| Bajan Gold | To be ridden by Andrea Atzeni for the first time, he comes here on a winning roll. Last month he easily landed a Windsor handicap and, leading 600m out and continually responding to pressure, he then won a Lingfield handicap. Likes this distance and fast ground. |
| Neverbeen To Paris | Moved up to a longer trip than this for his last three starts and was beaten each time, twice as favourite. However he had previously won a handicap nicely over this distance at Beverley -swooping fast and late. Fast ground suits him well. |
| Soldiers Bay | Yet to win but he did run a promising third at Goodwood in May on his handicap debut despite his jockey reporting that the horse slipped on the bend. He didn’t look happy when switching to an all-weather surface at Wolverhampton last time. |
| Gododdin | Always prominent he just held on to beat 11 rivals in a fast-ground Nottingham handicap over a similar distance to this in May. Then ran a decent third of ten at Leicester off a 6lb higher handicap mark. He’s been fitted with cheekpieces here. |
| Jack Regan | Has won just one of his nine starts, coming from the back with a power-packed finish when gaining that win over a similar trip to this at Salisbury in May. He needs a strong pace to aim at and he didn’t get that when third here in June. |
| Nuits St Georges | Yet to win from five starts but he’s shown promise on various occasions including when third of eight in a Doncaster handicap over further than this in April. He didn’t build on that when 11th at York subsequently. |
