The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (22 June) that Dr Christopher Cheng Wai Chee GBS JP, having reached the retirement age for Voting Members earlier this month, has retired as a member of its Board of Stewards and Board of Trustees. At the next AGM, before the 2018/19 racing season, a new Steward will be elected to fill the vacancy left by Dr Cheng.

Dr Cheng was elected to the Board of Stewards in August 2002.  He has been a Club member since 1976 and a Voting Member since 2000.  Since joining the Board of Stewards, he has served on various Club committees. Latterly he served as Chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committee, the Investment Committee and the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course Management Committee.

Paying tribute to Dr Cheng, Club Chairman Dr Simon Ip said, “We thank Dr Christopher Cheng for his contributions to the Club and wish him every success in the future.”
