G1 – 2000m – Turf

Oh Susanna Unquestionably the best filly in the field and on handicapping looks very hard to beat. She has already won two G1 races will go off a strong favourite. This will be her first run in four months but she is reported to be well.
Lady In Black Was one of the best two-year-old fillies last season but has not produced the same level of form this season. In her favour is that she does love this course but is held by Oh Susanna on their G1 Paddock Stakes run.
Fiorella Winner of the G2 Daisy Fillies Guineas over 1600m, this daughter of Captain Al has to be one of the main threats to Oh Susanna. She has already lowered the colours of another Snaith star – Snowdance – in the Fillies Guineas.
Elusive Heart On exposed form Glen Kotzen’s filly looks to be well held by a number of runners but her trainer has said different – they would be trying different tactics this time and try to drop her out and let her run on late.
Widow’s Lamp This filly is from Port Elizabeth where the opposition is generally a lot weaker. However, trainer Yvette Bremner has won G1 races before in other centres. Ran well against the colts when second in the East Cape Derby last time so will stay.
Luna Child Strong front runner who is not guaranteed to stay. She could ensure the pace is fast which could make sure this will be a test of stamina. Did improve when fitted with blinkers but will do well to finish in the money in this company.
Roy’s Riviera This Australian-bred filly has yet to prove she is as good as her reputation. She has contested a number of feature races and although running into the money it would be a major surprise i she were to win this event.
Raya Baya Has run well in her only start over 2000m but based on merit ratings she looks well held by most of the other runners. Does come from a top stable and has a good jockey up in Callan Murray. Trying blinkers for the first time.
Chariot Of Gold This could be the filly with the best chance of causing an upset. This daughter of Silvano could be a lot better than her merit rating. She won the Listed Oaks Trial at Turffontein and only faded late when third in the G2 SA Oaks.
Miyabi Gold This is the unknown factor in the race. She is from the Snaith stable and has only run four times for two wins. She is well drawn and has a top jockey up in Bernard Fayd’Herbe. She is trying 2000m for the first time.
