The Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast for betting a total of nine races from the Champions Challenge Day meeting in South Africa and the 2,000 Guineas Day in UK on Saturday, 5 May.

Held at Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg, the Champions Challenge Day is Africa’s richest race day where several championship events will be run. The simulcast features the Champions Challenge (G1 2000m open), South Africa’s flagship race for top middle distance runners, the S A Derby – final leg of the coveted S A Triple Crown (G1 2450m for 3yos), and the Computaform Sprint (G1 1000m open), the premier speed test in the Gauteng region.

2,000 Guineas Day, Newmarket Racecourse, UK (6 races – 1st race starts 9:20pm, Hong Kong time)
The English Classic season kick starts with the running of the 2,000 Guineas. Since its inception in 1809, the 2,000 Guineas Stakes (G1 1600m) has been firmly established as a premier event for the 3yo generation. It is the opening leg of the illustrious English Triple Crown, and for more than two centuries some of the sport’s finest horses have sought Classic glory over the famous Rowley Mile.
The Guineas card is completed by important lead-up races for high class sprinters and stayers, a Listed race for Derby possibles and two 3yo handicaps. Subject to change, the six races on the card are as follows:
