HKJC purchases well-bred South African yearling

30/04/2018 17:11

The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased a colt from a top-class family at the Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale last week.

The athletic bay, catalogued as lot 63, is by the G1 sire and G1 Cape Guineas victor, Captain Al, and was secured at a cost of Rand 3.3 million.

The youngster’s dam, the Listed winner Valor Red, is sibling to an array of talented gallopers: two full-siblings, Nania and Red Ray snared G1 wins, while another two, Brutal Force and Bishop’s Bounty, scored at G2 level.

G1 winners Set Afire and Rudra have also come from the same family, a prolific source of black type earners.
