Jockey Joao Moreira, who was stood down from his remaining riding engagements at today’s Flemington race meeting after having been dislodged from his mount REGAL MONARCH in Race 4, has been diagnosed as having sustained soft tissue damage to his right thigh and left calf muscle.  Jockey Moreira has informed the Stewards that he remains hopeful of being able to fulfil his riding engagements at tomorrow night’s Happy Valley race meeting.

Jockey Moreira will therefore be examined by the Club’s Racing Medical Officer upon his return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning whereupon a decision will be made regarding his fitness to ride.

The following standby declared riders have been arranged in the event that Jockey Moreira is ruled unfit to fulfil his Happy Valley engagements:-
