$60 million Mega Prizes for the start of season
For the start of the season’s day race meeting on 3 September, the total prize will be $20 million. The Triple Trio jackpot will be topped up to $12.5 million, with the payout estimated to reach $18 million if there is a single $10 winning unit. In addition, the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool of the last leg of the Triple Trio as well as the last race will each be topped up with a $1 million jackpot.
For the first night race meeting on 6 September, the total prize will reach $21 million. The Triple Trio jackpot will be topped up to $6.5 million, with the winner of a single $10 winning unit expected to take home a dividend of up to $10 million. A jackpot of $6.5 million will also be available to the Six Up pool, with the payout of Six Win Bonus estimated to reach $11 million if there is a single $10 winning unit.
At the Sha Tin day meeting on 10 September, the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool of Races 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 will each be topped up with $1 million. On 13 September’s Happy Valley night meeting, up to $14 million in total will be up for grabs. The prizes include an estimated dividend of $11 million for the Triple Trio for a single $10 winning unit, as well as a $1 million jackpot for the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool for each of Races 4, 6 and 8.
Gong-striking opening ceremony
The Hon Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, HKSAR Chief Executive will perform the ceremonial dotting of lion’s eyes before striking the lucky gong in the Parade Ring to kick off the season (Photo 4). All jockeys will be in attendance to wish fans the very best for the coming season. Fans can also strike the lucky gongs at all major entrances at Sha Tin Racecourse for an auspicious start to the new season. Statues of some of the 2016/17 Champion Awards winning horses and a themed photo kiosk will be set up for visitors to take pictures.
