The Stewards have interviewed Jockey H Bowman and Mr J Size, trainer of HELIOS EXPRESS (H302), which is entered for the aforementioned race, regarding the horse’s barrier trial in Batch 1 of the Sha Tin barrier trials conducted on the All Weather Track this morning 14 November 2025, where it finished 7th, beaten 27 lengths from the winner KA YING RISING.
Jockey Bowman, who rode the horse in this morning’s barrier trial, advised that the horse generally performs better on the turf surface, but today the horse travelled only fairly during the barrier trial and when providing a limited response to his riding in the Home Straight, he did not continue to ride the horse out to the finish. He added that during and after the barrier trial he could not fault the horse’s action and attributed today’s performance to the horse not appreciating the surface, following 8.5 mm of rainfall this morning.
Mr Size advised that the horse has pleased him leading into today’s barrier trial and concurred with the views offered by Jockey Bowman. He said following the barrier trial the horse ate up and he could not find any fault with the horse, but as is his usual practice, he will continue to monitor HELIOS EXPRESS. Mr Size advised that at this stage he intends to continue to prepare the horse for the aforementioned race.
HELIOS EXPRESS was inspected by the Veterinary Officer from the Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy shortly after the barrier trial, which did not show any significant findings.
Having considered the explanations, the Stewards have elected not to place any embargo on the horse, and it shall be subject to routine veterinary inspections prior to the running of the aforementioned race.
