G1 – 3000m – Turf

1

Coachella Valley

Finished powerfully to score over 2400m last start at Hanshin. Versatile galloper who relishes extended trips. One of the place hopes.

2

Amakihi

Untried at this distance but impressed with strong victory over 2200m at Niigata last start. Lightly-raced and shapes well for this.

3

Right Track

Listed winner over 1800m who suffered first defeat in 3 starts when 5th in a G2 over 2400m. Not beaten far last start and deserves consideration.

4

Yamanin Bouclier

Winner of 2 races with 3 minor placings from 8 starts and effective over 2400m. Ran on strongly in a G2 over 2200m last start at Nakayama and cannot be ruled out.

5

Giovanni

Winner of 2 races up to 2000m and ran well last start when 3rd in G2 over 2400m at Hanshin behind Eri King. Cannot be ruled out.

6

Mirage Knight

Very consistent type with 3 wins and 3 placings from 7 starts. Effective over 2000m and also placed over 2200m. Another of the chances.

7

Shohei

Racing in tremendous form with 3rd in G1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) (2400m) followed by narrow 2nd in G2 over 2400m at Hanshin. Among the main chances.

8

Rex Novus

Yet to miss a place in 6 starts with 3 wins and 3 minor placings. Adaptable galloper who has won his last 2 starts over 2600m.

9

Energico

Must be respected as a strong young stayer. Won a G2 over 2400m at Tokyo, storming from the rear of the field before finishing 2nd in a 2000m G3 against older opposition last start at Niigata.

10

G T Adamant

Opened career in brilliant fashion with successive wins up to 2200m but has disappointed since. Needs to improve on last start when led and faded in G2 over 2200m at Nakayama.

11

My Universe

Boasts 3 wins up to 2500m from 10 starts. Led throughout last start at Nakayama to win by 7L. Must be respected on last effort.

12

Goltzschtal

Consistent type with 4 wins from 7 starts. Proven at 2400m with 2 wins and a 3rd at the distance. Handles all types of ground. Must be considered.

13

Arrondi

Took 8 starts to break through, scoring under Alexis Badel over 2000m at Chukyo and then adding another win under Joao Moreira over 2200m at Hanshin. This is harder, but in good form.

14

Excite Bio

Has won 2 of his last 3 starts, including a G3 over 1800m at Fukushima. Has won up to 2000m and gives impression he will handle 3000m.

15

Eri King

Building an excellent record with 4 wins from 6 starts. Finished powerfully to win G2 2400m at Hanshin after finishing 5th in G1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) (2400m). One of the main chances and hard to beat.

16

Ra Shalom

Emerging stayer who appreciates longer trips with both career wins coming at 2600m. Able to produce a powerful finish. Place hope.

17

Layered Red

Took 9 starts to break through but continues to race well. Won most recent start over 2000m at Nakayama and is a likely improver.

18

Red Bande

Winner of 2 of 5 starts and proven over 2400m. Has good tactical speed and is versatile with ability to race forward or back. Worth considering.
