Brilliant 1600m horse who won his 10th G1 victory in the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on 13 September. Goes into this third-up and will again race near the lead. Take catching.

Royal Patronage

French-bred galloper who has had success in Great Britain and America before relocating to Australia where he won G1 1300m in March. Second-up after failing in G1 FWD Champions Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin in April. Will race handy and is talented.

Ceolwulf

Not far off them in the G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on 4 October when 3.52L 6 of 12. Finished off okay without threatening. Last win was in April in G2 over 2000m. Has won twice at track and distance. Place chance.

Lake Forest

English trainer William Haggas is back with his entire after winning last year’s rich Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill. Has been 2nd at his past two runs in G2 and G1 1400m races in Great Britain. Rates highly for this and will finish strongly.

Tom Kitten

Not a great preparation so far. Over-raced in G1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) when beat one home. Then slow away in G2 1600m at Moonee Valley when settled last and finished fairly. Has ability but needs to show it.

Pericles

No luck in last run when blundered at the start and then held up at a vital stage but still managed to finish 3rd in G1 (1600m) Epsom Handicap, beaten 1.5L. Yet to win at 1600m, but is more than capable at the distance.

Yellow Brick

Hasn’t won since a Listed 1400m victory at Eagle Farm a year ago. Started at huge odds at latest run in the G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on 4 October when finished 10 of 12, beaten 4.32L. Not here.

Pier

Failed to quicken in latest in the G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and was under pressure from the 400m mark. Hung on for 5th, beaten 3.08L. This isn’t any easier.

El Castello

Won 4 in a row last campaign, including G1 2000m at this track. Now in new stable and finished 11 of 12, beaten 4.42L in the 1600m Epsom Handicap here on 4 October. Honest but needs to lift.

Fangirl

Failed to handle soft Caulfield track in G1 1400m in August but bounced back with 1600m Stakes win at Randwick on 20 September. Likes the track and distance and will appreciate firm ground. Hard to beat.

Pride Of Jenni

Bold front-running mare who was back to her best with all the way victory in G2 1600m at Moonee Valley on 26 September. Has great second-up record and will again take a lot to run down.

Within The Law

Chased hard last start in the G1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 4 October to finish 1.18L 2nd of 10. Has been good all this campaign.  The 3-year-old is the youngest in the field and she is a likely improver in tough race.
