2000m – Turf
1 | Brise Noir | The handicapper has taken a flattering view of the gelding’s Deauville third behind an unbeaten winner. Not impossible despite his big impost. |
2 | Colgan Senora | Is enjoying a purple patch, having won a valuable Class 1 handicap on the Deauville all-weather. Could prove troublesome if backing that form up on turf. |
3 | O’Wood | Clearly back on song following Class 2 success (8-1) at Deauville, and the second has since franked that form by winning at Class 1 level. One to consider. |
4 | Olympic Goal | At the top of his game, having backed up a fine Deauville effort (second) with Class 1 win. Has risen sharply in the weights but he may not have reached his limit. |
5 | Prince Des Villes | Had a stiff task at the weights (17-1) on latest assignment but acquitted himself well in fourth. Continues in good form and makes each-way appeal. |
6 | Everillo | Gifted his rivals too much of a head start from gate 12 before running-on for fifth over 1850m. Could prove more competitive now that he’s back over his optimum trip. |
7 | Prince De Montfort | Has won just once in the last three seasons. Not disgraced (eighth) on latest appearance over a trip that was too sharp for him. Extra distance should suit. |
8 | Excelsior | Just three runs this term and never threatened (seventh) at Clairefontaine on last start. Should strip a lot fitter and clearly capable of better. |
9 | Sabroso | Almost stole Class 1 handicap from the front (16-1) last time only to be caught close home. Boasts two prior wins over today’s 2000m trip. |
10 | Sous La Neige | Isn’t proving to easy win with (one win from 20) and faces no easy task on that evidence although he’s clearly capable. |
11 | Just Jim | Lightly raced and undefeated last season. Hasn’t kicked on this term and is unraced since finishing third at Cholet in June. |
12 | Johnny Hammer | Low mileage on the clock but improving at a rate of knots judged on his strong finishing third in Class One handicap. Looks well handicapped. |
13 | Veritable | Possibly flattered by his proximity to a smart customer at La Teste last time, but has otherwise proved a good money-spinner for connections this season. |
14 | Melbora | On the go since January but has tended to shine (Class Three) at a lower level, and this promises to be a far stiffer test. |
15 | Big Log | Hit the target at the 13th time of asking this season by coming from last to first in Class Two grade. Although he will probably need to step up again. |
16 | Haviassor | In the form of his life at present. Has reeled off three wins on the bounce – albeit at a lower level – and so he does have it prove on the ratings. |
17 | Swift Flight | Has been frustrating to follow and fourth place (beaten favourite) at ParisLongchamp was symptomatic of his season. Tough ask. |
