1400m – Turf
1 | Lanzelot Gold | Progressive this season and a course and distance winner here in April. Not at his best on the all-weather (sixth) last time. So return to turf should be a bonus. |
2 | Reverso | He upset calculations (36-1) in a Class Two handicap on the Deauville all-weather in August. Ran third at Prague last time but now on a career high mark. |
3 | Major Oak | Finished with a flourish (fourth) last time at Class Two level. Has more to do here, and plenty high enough in the weights, but he shouldn’t be far away. |
4 | Omicrone | Snapped a losing streak two starts back (form reads well), only to disappoint as the beaten favourite (eighth) over 1200m at Deauville last time. Should do better for the return to 1400m. |
5 | Heybetli | Very well regarded earlier in his career (group placed). Has had his sights lowered since and interesting contender off current lowered handicap mark. |
6 | Skylight Brochard | Valid excuses for his disappointing effort at Deauville two starts back, and much improved at ParisLongchamp (second) last time. Contender. |
7 | Lanaken | Continues in great form and he was only just touched off at Class Two level at Deauville in August. Likely to make another bold bid from the front. |
8 | Laith | Much improved this season (three wins), he went very close at Lyon-Parilly last time. The market could be the best guide to his chances. |
9 | Rastrellare | Has enjoyed a productive campaign (three wins) and plenty to like about his running-on fifth in decent contest at Saint-Cloud. Could sneak a place. |
10 | Egiategia | Possibilities based on her Listed third at Chantilly in June. However, she hasn’t backed that up in her two starts since. First try over 1400m. |
11 | Bellano | Has changed stables this season and very much a slow burner, but clearly on the upgrade (13-1) judged on his battling fourth at Class Two level here. |
12 | Tortisambert | Rallied well from off the pace (10-1) to take third at Class Two level here last time. More needed but he continues to prove competitive at this track. |
13 | Felix Aux Ormes | In better form in the winter-spring period. Not disgraced in a decent contest (seventh) at Saint-Cloud last time, but he does need to raise his game. |
14 | Hemevez | Stepped up markedly when scoring a 40-1 upset win over C&D. Has been penalised accordingly and his task isn’t so straight forward this time around. |
15 | Leoparduccio | Is more of an all-weather specialist. He enjoyed a Deauville success (Class Three) in August but has since been exposed at Class Two level. |
16 | Rock Boy | This former G3 winner still retains a fair amount of ability but he could prove vulnerable to the progressive types. Seventh in this last year. |
17 | Amedras | Has tumbled down the handicap mark following a run of poor form. Has seen better days and tough ask awaits on current evidence. |
18 | Prince Aubois | Showed improved from on latest start by running-on into fifth. Clearly capable but he may need more leeway from the grader. |
